I mentioned to my wife that I had been looking at Halfords at the bikes (I have been looking at the Boardman Comp) when she casually mentioned that she gets 15% discount off any bike from Halfords through an offer open to members of her union.

My wife is a teacher, and a member of the NASUWT union. If your wife / sister / mother / auntie / mate is a teacher it may be worth talking nicely to them and seeing if they can get the discount voucher for you.

All of a sudden the Boardman range is looking like even better value!

  • Not quite so good, but Halfords offer a 10% off discount for students too. So if your wife / sister / mother / auntie / mate or any other relation is a student, you could use their student card.

check the small print though. My wife gets a similar deal (15% off) through her employer (a charity) but Boardmans are excluded.

I got my wife to check, and you were all right. The Boardman range is excluded from the discount scheme.

I have fallen back to my number two choice of bikes and bought a Giant Defy 3 instead.
I still have reservations about the colour scheme, but I got a very very good deal which I would have been stupid to turn down.

I just have to wait and see if the bike turns up on Friday as promised.

Anyone a canoeist (or wanting to join to get the offers ?)

Halfords are running two fantastic offers for Canoe England members!
Gift Voucher Offer – Halfords offer Canoe England Members 10% Discount on Gift Vouchers, when you spend £50 or over. The gift vouchers can be redeemed in any UK Halfords store.
Cycle Voucher Offer – Halfords offer Canoe England Members 15% Discount on cycles and cycle accessories, when you spend over £75!

No mention of the Boardman range being excluded there ?
