Chain Help

On one of my bikes the shimano 105 5600 chain has a faulty link, making it unable to bend around the chainset and rear derailleur, causing a considerably load clang!
I've degreased it and lubed it back up again, yet it is still stiff, it looks as if the rol seems to of a thicker width than on the other links.

I dont know whether this is a factory default, but i highly doubt it...
Anyway, to my question! The 105 chain has 116 links on it, but would an ultegra chain with 114 links still work on my bike, and if so, would there be any difference in shifting etc?
Thanks.

I can only think of one chain I have fitted that didn't need to be shortened for use first so you should be fine.Neil

I've not seen the type of link that you reference.
i'd just remove the faulty link and rejoin the chain with a split link or new shimano press pin - i've removed faulty links in the past with no problem
Shortening the chain by a link should be OK.
WRT the no of linlk in the 105 vs ultegra chain.... i had to remove approx 6 links from a new 105 chain in order to get the right lenght for my TT bike - either should be fine and you are likely to need to shorten the chain out of the bag anyway.0
