Look what I just bought, isn't she a beauty!!











Bought it for going to gym so my inbred doesn't get nicked.

Now what does it need and what do I do to it.

Do I (can I?) stick a set of V brakes on it?
Can I get rid of the quill stem ( it just looks naff and reminds me of halfords specials!)

I'll clean it up at the weekend and give it a good lubing up.

I'll be ordering a new seat and post, stick some red Lock on grips on and removed the pannier rack.

It also needs brake and gear cables.

You can fit V brakes if it has standard canti mounts. You may need to zip tie a bit of cable.

Quill stems are designed for threaded steerers - you can get converter stems.

Nice frames the old steel Marins.

It cost me £30, so I'm happy.

Is it worth sticking Vs on? I doubth I need any more stopping power.

So, if it has 1 1/8 steerer, and its long enough, I could fit a new aheadset and new stem? If not I'll need new fork, new headset and stem?

If it is inch and eighth, yes, could fit a new fork and headset.

You can't fit an ahead stem to a threaded steerer direct.

Another quicky, how easy would it be to run a single ring up front?, don't have any need for the granny and middle for the flat run to the gym!
