Marin Lucas Valley-Will it take panniers?

I am planning to do coast to coast then end to end. I would like to avoid buying a new bike. I have a carbon fibre Giant XTC MTB and a hybrid Marin Lucas Valley. Can either be made fit for the long haul??

    The Lucas Valley - that's got carbon seat and chainstays hasn't it? AFAIK there are no braze ons for a pannier rack on your bike.

    However, you can get a seatpost mounted pannier rack although it does have a relatively low weight limit - something like 10kg's IIRC.

    Carbon Forks not sure about the seat and chainstay, the seatpost mount sound good though in keeping the weight down.
