Need a frame I can ride all day - ideally with mudguard and rack eyelets

have tried a few things but none of the seem to be high enough at the bars or short enough in the TT - always seem to end up with aching neck and wrist pain and or elbow pain after 3 hours or more

also wear specs which may make neck pain worse

should I be looking at sportive frames? Whatever they are?

Any recommendations?

cheers

They tend to have a longer head tube. Look at the Performance fit option in the Trek range.

Everyone tends to do 'sportive' models now. Specialized Roubaix, Cannondale Synapse for example. Slightly shorter top tube and slightly longer head tube than a racing bike, so a bit more upright in terms of riding position, but still not a sit up and beg posture.

Sadly neither of these come with mudguard / rack eyelets, which is the reason I ended up with a Kinesis Racelight Tk which does.

This is a winter trainer, so it too suffers from a low front end, but I have got round that to a reasonable extent with a few spacers under a stem which is flipped upwards. Might also get a compact / shallow drop bar to make riding in the drops a practical proposition.

I am a sprightly, but not as bendy as I used to be, 52 years old.

If you have the budget, both Pearson and Dolan do carbon audax frames / bikes with the mudguard clearance / eyelets you desire.

pearson/dolan - out of my budget really

tried a racelight - very nice frame, brilliant handling, surprisingly un-harsh ride - cripplingly uncomfortable due to short headtube for me

Did you try the racelight with spacers / flipped stem?

Dolan do the audax in steel too.

Why not try somewhere like Mercian or Bob Jackson, they can make you a frame that fits like a glove, has all the braze-ons you could want and will probably outlive you.

What he said. Although Italian firm Viner can make carbon frames made to measure as well

Current Specialized Allez and Giant Defy frames have a longer head tube than kinesis relative to the top tube, usually a few of those about on fleabay

Have a look a the geometry of the Condor Fratello. Fairly short in the top tube with a tall headtube and rack / mudguard braze ons.
