Just taken part in my first club 10.

Route had to be shortened to about 8 miles due to roadworks but pleased with my effort, 19'25, on a more or less standard Boardman Team Carbon.

Really surprised at how exhilarating it was. :D

Right now where can I get some cheap aero wheels and tri bars!

Token do some cheap aero bars, around the £30 and are pretty good, I still use them on my TT bike.

Aero wheels are not that cheap unfortunately, though have a look at ebay for 2nd hand ones.

You can probbaly get some second hand clip in bars off ebay, Profile Century bars are quite common, as they are popular with beginners and tourers and they are good value new at around £40 so expect to pay <£20 for used. There is nothing to go wrong with them unless they have been crash damaged. The bars will give you a more aero position which is worth a huge gain in time. Aero wheels will only give you a handful of seconds as a beginner - in fact even a strong rider would do much better on a TT bike with standard wheels, compared to a road bike with aero wheels.

+1 for the Tokens. Got some for my bike and very adjustable and comfortable they are to. The guy in the LBS reckned they were better than some of the £100 ones they had.
Good time for an 8miler, well done. I did 39 mins for my first 10, but I did get lost and end up doing 14 miles :D

Well done... That would equate to +/-24:25 over 10 miles... Respect!

Thanks guys, I'll take your words for it that the time was ok.

Not a particularly hilly circuit but some of the other riders were saying its a slow course due to all the turns, four roundabouts and a poor road surface on the run in to the finish.

Where some of these TT'ers train if they thought it was rough is beyond me though!

Right, off to google the Tokens.

First time round the full 10 last night now that roadworks have gone.

    26.02.

Little disappointed after my previous times until I realised they'd been over 7.4 miles not 8

On a positive note still haven't got any aero bars so times should tumble in coming weeks and only 1.09 off the fastest rider on the night.

After taking the kids to their first Session with Bourne Wheelers Junior Club (Bullets), I've decided to come out of retirement and have a go at my first 10 in about15 years. Only have a fixed so I may struggle on the hilly bit...Hopefully I will have recovered from my Broken ribs in time for 7th July on the Aslackby course. http://gb.mapometer.com/en/cycling/route_636511.html
