Hey, need some advice.

Shamal Ultra Ti 2-way fit (2009 wheels) for £500 or
Shamal Ultra 2-way fit (2010 wheels) for £650.

Are the 2010 wheels worth the extra layout or am i better saving some cash/using it to upgrade the 2009 to ceramic bearings too? :?

What you think?

Save the money, buy the 2009 model and if you want ceramic bearings, buy an upgrade kit for £50 - but the benefit of ceramic bearings is extremely marginal
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Whats the deal with these '2-way' wheels anyway? Advantages?

They are tubeless ready - thats all

    Cheers Monty.

Went for the 2009 version. Should be a good difference from my Sciroccos anyway :D

Think i'll just leave the ceramics for now and maybe spend the saved money on some tubeless tyres to give them a bash.

On that note, anybody tried both the Hutchinson Atom & Fusion 3 tyres?

Not always that easy to replace bearings in Campag wheels.

FWIW Shamals use same hub / bearing design as Record - about the easiest hub to service and adjust IME

If you buy something fancy and deep section just make sure that you don't get overtaken by a 40 year old on a knackered track bike with a £50 wheelset and a fixed gear because it makes the sound of deep section carbon rims grind on your soul!!!!

No seriously what about a handbuilt set from wheelsmith, you could get a killer wheelset for that money!

Shamal Ultras are not deep section though :?

If i was getting them at near the RRP then something from wheelsmith would definitely be better vfm, but not at £499.
