I'm off on a 12 day tour in Japan next week and need a backpack rather than a suitcase for my luggage, as I will have to carry it around with me everyday.

Trouble is I don't have one and have never looked at buying one... there seem to be loads out there and I'm not sure what to look for. What's good? What's bad? What's a luxury that I might pay for, but not need?

If it helps, I'm doing this: http://www.gapadventures.com/trips/japa ... AJJT/2010/ plus 2 extra nights in Tokyo and 1 in Osaka.

Thanks!

Ben

if you want to carry laptops etc then take a look at Jansport, swiss luggage. I think North face do a large one too - search ebay they are all on there.

I have a Low Alpine one that has served me well through long treks in the Andes, Peru, Canada, New Zealand and is still going strong.

Thanks for the input chaps. I don't need to carry laptops or anything... just basic clothes and a couple pair of sneakers.

I went to FEB Mountain Sports last night and got a 40ltr The North Face one (Terra 40)... not too small, not too big, has a few nice features and is comfy as heck! 25% off so I got it for £67!

Hopefully it's still as comfy after 10 or 12 hours! Enjoy your trip. It will rock! :D
