I need a 130mm stem for my TT bike, I was thinking about getting an adjustable one. Does anyone have a recommendation, I don't want to spend a lot, so carbon fibre is a no no, aluminium alloy is fine. Bar diameter is standard (not oversize)

    Steve,

I use the oversize version of this BBB adjustable stem on my track TT training bars. It's strong and stiff enough just not very light. I'd also recommend the Deda ADJ (which I have on my race TT bars) but they're only available as oversize.

Thanks Eddy - do you have to dismantle it to adjust it, or can you simply loosen and reposition in situ?

No need to dismantle - it's all adjustable in situ.

Hi I've got a n ITM Forged Lite Luxe Stem 13 cm for standard sized bars.
    It's for 1" 1/8 forks.
In good nick with a few marks where computer was fitted.
It weighs approx 142 grams [not bad for 13 cm, adjustables are a lot heavier]
    It is reversable
    can post pics if interested
    would like £8.50 posted
    Cheers, Alan

Thanks for the offer Alan, unfortunately I have already bought the adjustable version, otherwise I would have taken you up on it. I'm at 95Kg with a race weight target of 85Kg so the extra few grammes will not have much effect for me - lot less than being able to get lower at the front anyway.

No worries Steve, much appreciated getting back to me, we're about the same weight and I dream of seeing 85 kgs's again, out of interest which stem did you go for, Cheers, Alan

I went for the 130mm version of the link Eddy provided above - bargain at £25 or so, much cheaper than wiggle cheap ritchey versions which require you to dis-assemble them from the steerer in order to adjust the angle. If its strong enough for Eddy, then it's going to be more than adequate for me! Re weight, I have a training target of 90Kg by end June, 85Kg by september. So far I am losing 1kg a week through portion control. My cycling isn't suffering, I am more likely to consume fuel when riding rather than stuffing my face beforehand in anticipation.

Good luck with the targets and the stem, you've got plenty of options the the adjustments, cheers, alan
