I normally do all my own DIY jobs around the house but on this project i called in the professionals, ie a plasterer plumber and decorator, they all done a good job, the decorator finished today but as i was still at work he told my wife that he would call around at the weekend for his money, he also told her to look over the work and any problems to let him know, so i give the work a good look over and the only problem i can find is the door reveal would need sanded down to smooth out a few high spots which i think are fillers and repainted, so how do i put it to the decorator without sounding rude as i am looking for him to decorate the outside of my house in the summer and he is very difficult to get as he is always very busy?

If it's an oversight and small tbh I'd do it myself. If it's him being lazy and unprofessional he wouldn't be painting my house.

Not sure if it was an oversight, should have mentioned that there was two decorators, the guy i employed and his partner, so who is to blame, no doubt the guy i employed will blame his mate.

Most construction work always has an element of snagging, and this does sound minimal, I would phone him up and confirm that his money will be ready and waiting for him, however could he please sort out the snag and give a price for the external work. If the bloke knows you aren't being funny and that there is future work for him he will be reasonable. Decorators who are busy are busy because they are good, there are a lot of unqualified/ unskilled"decorators" out there and a proper tradesman will not have any problems doing the snagging on their work.

As for doing it myself why pay the decorator in the first place, he is a proper tradesman, i think this is one of the problems when you do all you own DIY, to be honest i could not have done as good a job as the decorator,
