Which wheels for me?

I know, another wheels question for the board!
My friendly mechanic tells me the RS10s on my Cannondale Synapse Carbon are about to see their last season.
I need something that will see me through a couple of sportives each year, some good long training rides, and a daily 5 mile cross-town commute for 8-9 months of the year (switch to old single-speed kona for the crappy weather!).
I'm no lightweight, coming in at just under 90kg
The simple choice seems to be a pair of Planet X wheels, but if I wanted to spend a bit more - up to, say £250-£300, what should I be considering?

Go handbuilt if you're a bit bigger and are a bit tough on wheels. Not only will they be built to your spec but if you need a repair eg broken spoke, you can get it sorted far quicker than with a factory wheel. For the budget you're talking about then some Mavic Open Pro or Ambrioso rims on 105/Ultegra hubs should do nicely.Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?
