Fifty mile ride

I read in a magazine last week that you should up your milage by about 10% if you want to increase the distance you can cover.
So yesterday I completely diregarded that advice and took my wife on 51 mile ride to Kirkby Lonsdale and back
I wasn't too bad, but she was really struggling on the way back. It was cold and the hills are a bit relentless when you are cream crackered.
Am I a bad man? Or should I be applauded for showing her her inner strength
There was no where to stop and warm up/rest, so we just ate the flap jacks and bananas and got on with it. 6 hours in the saddle was quite a long time though
Actually far from trying to bump me off today, she is feeling quite smug at her, not 50, but 51 miles
We did a similar thing last year, we do a hard one, then everything that comes after feels easy and she knows she can do it.
Might go for the hundred next week

Not to worry. Your body will probably turn up sooner or later. I wouldn't sleep at all if I were you.0
