edited May 2010 in MTB buying advice
I've been umming and arring between several bikes for a week or two now. I am going to click buy by midnight tonight so some last minute advice needed!

I am a newbie looking to get into the sport primarily as a way to keep fit and "get out and about". So not looking for anything fancy or expensive. I will be mostly just riding trails and going for relaxed leisure rides etc (possibly with the GF).

I have narrowed it down to 3 bikes

Giant XTC 4 2009

Trek 4300 Disc 2010

Specialized Hardrock Sport Disc 2010

I am leaning towards the Giant. Given the choice between the 3 which would you choose and why?

Being a reduced 2009 bike the Giant is the best value and better specced.

But can you try it out? Will a local shop serve you better?

Giant, and I can vouch for Paulscycles, they're a very nice place to deal with, the courier was a bit thick though.

Ok so i'm definitely getting the giant :)

One more question though! When it gets delivered from pauls cycles, will it be fully assembled or will I have to attach some parts?

Usually just need to fit the pedals, rotate the stem to be square ot the forks and maybe rotate the bars to the position you want. Most mail orders I have had have come with the very limited tools you need to do this.
