Best wheels for a Focus Cayo

Hi all,
I have a Focus Cayo 105 with all the gear that it came with. I'm riding the Maratona in July and would like to add a bit of bling to the old girl for it. I'm reliably informed that wheels/tyres would be the best investment but I don't really know what ones come recommended.
Any ideas?

Not without a budget for the wheels, and tyres.
Impossible to answer otherwise.0 -
i put fucrum racing 1s on mine with conti gp4000s tyres, looks very smart. you can pick up the wheels for around 500quid and tyres for 50quid."Unfortunately these days a lot of people don’t understand the real quality of a bike" Ernesto Colnago0

I was budgeting around about £500. I guess the other question is how much of a difference will the new wheels/tyres make?0

So far these seem to have the best reviews

Agree the dura-ace's are sweet. The hubs, the rims, the braking of alu, the great feeehub body.
Check out the Hed Ardennes as well. I bought my Ardennes in Sept 2008 and put 2000 racing and sporive kms a summer on them and they are laser straight still. The bearings are so smooth it's a joke - you can't tell if the wheel is spinning or not.
People dig Fulcrums as well but you'd have to spend a lot more than £500 to get the Zeros which seem to me (I have no experience) to be the ones worth it if you're spending that kind of money.
If you know a good builder you can check out some 240 hubs on KinLins or Crostini but it really depends on weight (mainly) and riding style secondly. When a cyclist has a disagreement with a car; it's not who's right, it's who's left.0 -
My wee brother's just upgraded his Cayo Ultegra with Shimano RS80 wheels from Merlin (£315- -carbon rims - 1500g) and ProRace3s tyres- and a pair of Easton flat/gull-type bars.
It's a much better bike now and that's well within your budget.
I think those Focus Cayos are (were) great value, but the wheels & finishing kit are where they cut the corners - so bars/stem/seatpost that they come with are pretty heavy.
The DuraAce 7850s mentioned above are great wheels though!
Good luck with the Maratona! You'll definitely notice an improvement getting lighter wheels for it!
The Stelvio, Gavia and Mortirolo are worth a visit too!0
