Last few weeks have really seen me enjoy biking more and more. To the point it is my birthday soon and my mate has joined me out on the bike most nights. Problem is he is using my missus Appollo (i know i know, she got it before i met her).

Anyway, mate is liking it too, and talking about getting a bike. His limit is £200 as he is just getting into it.

I want to get a new bike, only had my trek 3900 a year and got it through C2W scheme and will be paid start of June.

Am considering offering him my bike for a price and maybe getting a new Trek. budget is about £500. I seen that Sonic said the trek 4300 was a good looking bike.

thoughts?

for the record its paths etc we re doing at the mo, no full armour required yet, but who knows. really enjoying the biking at the mo

Where is the moral dilemma? Is it selling a bike which isnt yours under the C2W scheme?

Well if you are selling your old one to put toward the new one, I dont see a problem.

there is an element of that too. Although i will have paid the bike off in full (less the VAT element) by the start of Jun and the VAT has been reclaimed by the business anway, so its at no real loss

Just trying to weigh it up and the missus might need some persuading, especially as she wants to take me away on holiday for my birthday :?

    1) Sell old bike.
    2) Buy new one.
    3) Dont mention it to missus.
    4) :? ???
    5) Profit! :D

Just had exactly the same dilemma with Mrs G because After 9 months on my Black Forest, I want a full susser as well, and my argument was, its my money, She spends above what I do on bikes on fags, and that it doesnt matter if I have 2 bikes, its my money, I gently said that I work hard for my cash, and that I'm not bankrupting us, its a spare bit of cash out of the £150 a month pay rise I've just had

    She hit the roof!!

compromise might be new bike, but get rid of the hardtail, we shall see how that fares

If shes on the fags, I dont think she has a leg to stand on. Strap on a pair and tell her where to go, especially if its your cash!

yeah i see where you are coming from.

The thing is i could always get the bike thru the Cycle 2 work scheme again as i will have had the bike a year at the start of June. Just don't want to tie myself to my work for another year, as i ll be honest i am thinking of moving north with the missus.

I wish i was in a position to shell out a small 3rd world economy on a bike, but until i lose more weight and win the lottery its not going to happen.

Mate is wanting a bike, and mine could be his, thus releasing me to get the 4300 disc (Sonics tip for 2010). Its a win win situation, but try explaining to the missus lol

I still dont see why your missus would be upset for selling your bike, unless your gonna spend a whole lot more on a replacement, which doesnt seem the case?

vv What it says down there vv
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result
