Finally got hold of my first ever full suspension. Here she is;

I picked her up on Thursday for what I consider to be a bargain. Apart from the peaty grips everything is standard.

Future purchases will include;

Maxxis High Rollers
Hope finishing kit (clamp, skewers, headset)
Bash guard
New saddle (not to keen on present colour)
Wider bars maybe havoc dh

If needed i'll upgrade the brakes but as i've not really put the hayes through their paces that purchase will be at the bottom of the list with suspension upgrades

I've only been out on her for about 10minutes and it's a completely different sensation to my previous hardtail...

Im off to brechfa in the morning for my 1st proper ride and with the help of my mate I should be able to have a look at the suspension settings.

On Friday I picked up a pair of flats to replace the spesh cage jobbies which were standard.. not the ones I wanted but I couldn't get the mg1s in time for tomorrow

Not sure about the quality but they were commended by the lbs and they will do for tomorrow.

I'll keep you posted about how I get on with my first full suss trail centre experience... and if any one has any comments or part recommendations feel free to let me know!

    I certainly did have a blast!!

    Brechfa was I really challenging trail and the pitch was up to it. I was a bit concerned before I went with pedal bob.

    Coming from a hardtail assents were never much of an issue but P-Jay helped me dial in the suspension and it was awesome on the climbs!

    On the fun bits it was unusual as I had to shift my weight alot differently to my h/t but that will come with experience. Pedals were ok.. not as good as my mg1's but at least they match the paint work :)

    All in all very happy with the purchase and can wait to get some new parts for her!

    it looks rubbish :wink: (my pitch is in my sig)

    I hope you enjoy this bike, and i certainly enjoy mine. It's so confidnece inspiring - i often find myself straight-lining over sections that other people pick their way through. It really does allow you to plough through the worst line you can find, and it'll just eat roots and rocks without you even realising.

    The shock is a little basic, and i find it wallows in it's travel if you mash the cranks. So instead i tend to spin a small gear, and it climbs like a goat.

    Overall, a reasonable ownership experience :D

    (ps, i've been riding mine for over a year both locally and at south wales trail centers, and all it's required in that time is the rear hub servicing. Never so much as a flat tyre.)

    Bit of an update on this..

    My headset broke and I needed something quickly so I picked up on of these

    http://www.bikeoutlet.co.uk/products/VP_A69_Headset_1_125_1_1_8th_Coloured-1044-0.html in anodised blue. Does the trick until I get the hope headset.

    Also ive gone for super wide low rise bars so picked up one of these

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?PartnerID=79&ModelID=40920 They are absolutely whopping! will try them out tomorrow evening!

    To accompany the bars i also picked up these

    Like I said im heading out tomorrow so i'll test out all the new goodiesa and report back :)

    Those Atlas bars are HUGE! Very well made though, and light for what they are.

    I had to get rid of mine in the end as I just couldn't get used to them. Not really designed with my 456s geometry in mind though.
