Hi all,

I have a 2006 Giant Defy 3 with a square taper BB. In the process of trying to eradicate an annoying squeak (tightening BB) I noticed the BB is very graunchy and rough. So I want to replace it.

When measuring it the length seems to be 116mm with a 68mm diameter. There is also "B116" stamped on one of the tapers. The model is a RPM BB 7420.

It looks similar to this one... http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=22376 but ideally I'd like to change it for one of these...

I cant seem to find a 116mm length one online, would a 115mm Shimano UN54 be OK with my triple setup?

Thanks. Si

I doubt you would notice a difference of 1mm on the BB axle so it would be fine. :D

Thanks for the reply, could I then get a 118mm one? I have large feet and sometime the back of my shoes hit the chainstay. I guess the extra 1mm on each side might help avoid this? Would I need to adjust the front mech? Cheers. Si
