Opinions please

OK,basically.Im planning a trip to the Tourmalet for the tour.I have come across the following campsite http://www.laribere.com/ located in Bareges .In my email correspondence I have been to told that to book a place the owner will simply email me his bank details .

Something about this seems a bit fishy and I would rather a secure server way of paying etc.Also another niggle is that whilst I have been sending my enquiries to the following email contact@laribere.com I have received responses from campingbareges@gmail.com.

What are your guys opinions? Has anyone used la ribere for camping in Bareges before?

I have posted this here and in cake stop as I could do with knowing quite quickly.

No specific opinion, but paying by bank transfer is extremely common in Europe, there's absolutely nothing out of the ordinary about that. I'd have more faith in that than a possibly dodgy credit card site - at the end of the day, you have the guys bank account details and, if it does prove dodgy, you thus have a means to track him down. Also, email forwarding from small domains to gmail accounts is also quite common, I don't find this a problem at all.

To put your mind at rest, why not give both the campsite and the local tourist information office a call? Or, if your french isn't up to scratch, find a mate who can. Telephone contact is a much better way of detecting fishiness, and the tourist information will be able to tell you the name of the campsite owner, to see if it tallies with the details you've been given.

I think it looks fine, personally, but obviously perform as many checks as you can till you're happy!
