OK,basically.Im planning a trip to the Tourmalet for the tour.I have come across the following campsite http://www.laribere.com/ located in Bareges .In my email correspondence I have been to told that to book a place the owner will simply email me his bank details .
Something about this seems a bit fishy and I would rather a secure server way of paying etc. Also another niggle is that whilst I have been sending my enquiries to the following email contact@laribere.com I have received responses from campingbareges@gmail.com.
What are your guys opinions? Has anyone used la ribere for camping in Bareges before?

The site seems to be genuine at a quick glance, though there doesn't seem to be any business ref. or VAT number shown on the site, which I believe is a French legal requirement - but French legal requirements are only met by other people. I can see that replies from a gmail address could be worrying. The site is registered with ASCI.EU and Eurocampings.eu.
Have you tried making a reservation via eurocampings - http://www.eurocampings.co.uk/en/europe ... a+Rib%E8re
EDIT: I only suggesting booking via ACSI Eurocampings so that it might bounce them into a more official, tax-paying way of doing business. More official....n'est-ce pas?0 -
Paying by bank draught (IBAN/BIC) between European banks should be pretty safe, the Germans especially do it a lot, but of course I understand your concerns. I only have experience of receiving them.0
