Evening all.

My bike is pictured below which today, has had its biannual strip and clean

Looks nice imo however, paint work is a little tatty up close. In fairness, the frame is 8 years old.

I'd like to get it painted. I quite fancy a black stealth jobbie, however, I also like the original paint job and would probably prefer a retro restoration. Are there people out there who could do this and does anyone have any personal recommendations?

What do you think? Would you even bother ?

Guy does anodising for alu around £50 or so, plus p and p.
Got his details somewhere, as I was thinking of the Stealth look too for a Proflex 768.

I've had 3 bikes powder coated locally. 2 ok, one not very good. Cheap tho.
Celtic Coatings in Felinheli. but...think they might have moved/closed.

Plain black anodise? That sounds smart. Would you bother to put the graphics back on it? and any idea how hard wearing anodising is?

He gave me contact details for a custom decal guy as well, Sorta do anything you want apparently.

I'm SERIOUSLY considering it, but only hickup is getting the pivots removed/refitted.
Mate runs a bike place here, says he'll do it but dont want frame screwed up for the sake of "art", lol!

As long as you put protective tape at cable rub spots, its quite tuff.

Think of it: Stealth Black, White decals with red hi lites. Red bikey bits . Sounds cooler than Steve McQueen in Bullitt...which was voted the Coooolest film, ever. Til the next cool film.

Ok, I'll go thro my emails tomoro and send you the details etc.

Then, it's up to you. I'm currently awaiting a "blame-claim" case, so if the readies come thro, I'll probably do it too, and move all the older stuff onto my rigid Norco Bigfoot, so that'll get the Marzz XC 600 too.
Then, Merlin are doing XT G/set for around £500 or so, and stick this onto the Proflex.
Lookin for a nice 140 fork as well, depending on the insurance claim.

Hope my solicitors have done their jobs properly, lol !

Just watching the end of Mtb WC 4 X, then bed, big ride tomoro.
