First time touring

Ive been getting into riding my mountain bike for longer distances on the road these days (something I never thought I would do a few years back!) and enjoying it immensly.
I have a 2009 Trek 6000 disc, which I have fitted with road tyres and front & rear panniers. I also keep the sus forks locked out on the road.
So ive been doing about 75 miles per ride, which I'm quite happy with, but I know I could do a lot more in a full day.
I want to start doing some touring, and carrying camping gear. Ive got a small lightweight tent (I'm a mountaineer), stove, sleeping bag etc & all the gear really. But what I'm after is any handy hints & tips which might help me.
I am based in N.Wales, so next week I am going to do my first mini trip, down into Snowdonia (about 70 miles, camp somewhere, then come home by a different route the next day. Then have planned a 3 day trip from south to north Wales in a couple of weeks time, about 180 miles. Ive been using the 'Map my Run' site to plan routes, seems good.
As I said, I'm just after any advice, hints & tips.
Thanks in advance.
Andy

If you're doing 75 miles per ride on a mountain bike, and you're an experienced mountaineer, you'll be fine. You already know what you're doing.Bike lover and part-time cyclist.0

Sounds good. I have spent many years 'mooching about' in the mountains yes, so as far as calorie intake, layering clothing, dehydration avoidance etc i'm sorted, just those niggly little things that I don't know but you lot do know, which will make ky life easier is what Im thinking......0
