Requiring help on finding a good Road Bike.

I've always been a keen cyclist, and I haven't been able to do any for years because of University. I've never been able to afford a proper Road Bike either.

I now want a road bike. I still can't spend shedloads, £500, is my limit.

Im 6 foot 2, and so I need a large bike. I have long lanky legs.
Any help is much appreciated.

60cm Trek 1.1 is as good as you can get for your budget. Decent frame, decent wheels and a carbon fork (steel steerer).

The Allez is a good bike, but you could also look at Boardman. I recently got a 2009 Cube Aerial (1st road bike) which I love, although it's a bit over your budget.

This does look like a good bike for the price.

I've found a shop in the center of manchester selling this, Im going to go tomorrow and check it out.

just gone through same thing, the boardman is a lot of bike for your money (halfords) but i tried the giant defy 4 but finally found bit extra and just bought a giant defy 3

I went to the shop in Manchester today, and the guy told me that the Allez 16 2010 bike, is much much better than a Trek for the price. Sadly they didn't have a Trek 1.1 already built up in my size so I couldnt test it out. I tried the Allez and I've got to say it was really good.

Can somebody with good knowledge, compare the Defy 4 GIANT, to Specialized Allez 16?
And tell me why one is better than the other???
