Chain jumping

I know the probable answer is I need a new cassette and more than likely chainset
anyway I checked my chain the other day and it basically said it was knackered, the chain wear tool slotted in with room to spare on the biggest setting
I changed the chain as had a spare one but it seems to jump, tends to only be in low gears when I start off or at the start of a hill. Once im riding at a steady pace its fine.
The cassette looks ok still, could I have measured the chain wrong and just need to take another link out?

An extra link will only cause problems in the little ring and at the small end of the cassette. Otherwise, it doesn't matter.

ah ok, thought you was going to say that,
waiting for cycle to work voucher to get new wheels, will get cassette then. I am getting another bike but the rest of the voucer is paying for some speedplays and new wheels0
