SRAM S300 1.1 Chainset

Does anyone know if a SRAM S300 1.1 Chainset (single 48 tooth ring) will work ok set up to use with a 9 speed cassette, chain and mech.

I am building a 9 speed commuter and have all the bits except a chain set and this on seems to fit the plan.
