Budget disc brake

I am wanting to replace the mechanical front disc brake on my Specialized Hardrock with a hydraulic system. The two which seem to be good and within my budget are the Avid Juicy 3 & the Shimano XTRM960. Which would be best?

Just a single brake?
I'd prefer the XTR to the Avid, but what prices have you seen?0 -
I guess its preference as I run Avids and have never had a problem..some will say the same about Shimano....as long as they do the job it does not really matter...pro's and con's for everything really....I would say the Avids.....Check out CRC front juicy 3 for £55 inc rotor or 07 Juicy 5's for a fiver more..they have lots on clearance but I guess you may already no that !0

I have attached the links below. I guess both will fit my 2010 Hardrock disc with Rockshox tora forks? I have only just started cycling for fun so don't really know much about bikes yet. Also don't know how to ride too well which is why I hit a tree stump, broke a lever & now have an excuse to buy a new front brake.

Don't forget you will need the rotor and bolts etc...this will cost you another £20-30 for what you using the bike for I would get the set from Chain Reaction Cycles as you will have everything you need...0

The XTR is just for the caliper.0

Can I not use the new caliper on my original 160 rotor?Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

You could - but you need a brake lever. And then someone to fit it all and bleed it.0

One last question. Will I need IS or post mounting?
I have got Rock Shox Tora SL forks & 160mm discs at the moment.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Looks like the post mount. If I did get a IS mount could I just fit it without the IS adapter?
My old forks looked more like the IS mount, when my new forks were fitted the old calipers were fitted direct to the new forksTransition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
personaly i loath J3's, infact im not really a fan of any avids. iv just bought some Clarks SX skeletals, they apear to be great value, and have all the features you could want... ill report back with a mini review to say if they really are any good.I like bikes and stuff0
