I know I have. This is a rather sad story and clearly the guy needs some kind of mental help:

    That's quite horrific.
  • Rather surprised the Daily Fail isn't trying to portray the driver as some kind of hero getting "justice" against this vile lycra lout.

    cycling causes cancer you know
  • Thats outragous. As much as i do believe the cyclist should have stopped and apologised or whatever to do anything quite so extreme over a wing mirror is unforgivable.

He should never be let out of jail.

There's no way he can get away with that. Even if the cyclist should have stopped and sorted it out, ramming someone off their bike is inexcusable. Some people really are pricks.

I rode past a car last week on the way to work and his nearside mirror was knocked forward slightly, so he couldn’t really use it properly. For a moment I thought I’d lean over and pop it back into it’s normal place, but then figured he’d probably just see some “bloody cyclist” interfering with his car and have a strop at me so left it and just rode on.

There are some crazy peeps out there…..

  • I like to think I'd not be filtering close enough to knock someones mirror in the first place (although with my bars, I could probably knock someones mirror from the other side of the road). I'd not want cars filtering that close to me.
HOWEVER, an accident is an accident, it's certainly no excuse to drive up onto the pavement and mow someone down. The guy is obviously a psychopath.

    Holy crap. That is disturbing.
He denies one charge of murder and another of causing death by dangerous driving.
Ok, so he could claim manslaughter instead of murder, but how the hell could he ever deny causing death by dangerous driving, when that is precisely what he has done?

Maybe not him, but non scary people i would do.

It doesn't state what damage was done though, normally the mirror would just pop forwards.

I once put a foot down (not hard!) on some guy's bonnet while riding along a wall. Lucky for me, he was sitting in the car at the time and we got to have a chat about it. I apologised profusely, agreed that I shouldn't have been riding there and had done a bad, wiped the dust of his bonnet and apoologised again but he was apoplectic and kept on raging.

In the end I ran out of patience, asked him what it was exactly he wanted me to do for him to calm down (apparently nothing), asked him to show me what harm I had done (none), then rode off.

I think after you give a proper full apology (admit wrongdoing, express remorse, offer a remedy) you've more or less fulfilled your duties. Once you've ticked those boxes you should feel free to judge each situation individually.

    agreed.

I whacked a car on the passengers side rear door....pedal scrape..nasty...

just spoke to the guy and said...traffics busy here...pop down the road and I will stop there for a chat...

said i was sorry....how can i fix this for you...he said...get one of those scratch repairers that some round to your work and fix the car on the roadside...

ended up costing me about £40 i think....but...I would expect the same if someone damaged my property!

I punched the side of an Autoglass van once when it nearly killed me on a roundabout. It wasn't a retaliation, he was actually about to squash me. The driver wasn't impressed, but I'm pretty sure he did it deliberately seeing as I was in 'primary' in front of him coming onto the roundabout. If it hadn't been a punch then it would have been pedals, handlebars or my head, so it was the best option for both of us.

I had a Ford Galaxy a few years ago, and was driving through Beaumaris, really narrow streets and pavements etc.

Pulled to one side to let another car by, then accelerated away. As I did, two old biddies were standing very close to the edge of the pavements edge, and my wing mirror slightly clipped one of the ladies shoulders. Only a glancing blow, and I didn't realise what I'd done.

Boy, if looks could kill, I'd be Stone Dead !

With no cars on the road you can use your bike in safety, and you'll still be able to mountain bike

Whereas, have you ever tried to get a Punto down Glentress red? Not easy, I can tell you!

bails87....Yeah, ran right over the old girl, LOL!

Well, she was probably from Liverpool or Manchester on a day trip, and not long for this World.

Just hope she spent most of pension to "up" the local Beaumaris economy.
