Folks,
I would like to ask if anyone can recommend an alternative to the 10speed SRAM PC1090 chain. I am looking to have my cake and eat it too: someting twice as good at half the cost.
Thanks

Many thanks. But the PC1090 is roughly £30 as well. So, if this is not half the price, is it at least twice as good, in the whole spirit of the "having your cake and eating it too" ?BMC Pro Machine

Go for the KMC X10 (Non SL) then and that'll do the job.
About £20 on Merlin IIRC. You won't get much cheaper....not for a decent chain.Planet X RT-57 custom build0 -
FWIW I've used bunches of different brand chains and have never found one to be noticeably better or worse than another. I push on the pedals and the rear wheel starts moving the bike. I doubt very seriously if you are going to expeience a REVOLUTION

IME it's worth spending extra on the KMC gold TiNitride version, it runs smoother, doesn't corrode and looks better for longer - just bought one from Ribble for about £25 with all their discount - the previous one lasted 2 full seasons of racing and fast riding.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

How about these Mavic ones £15 each or £30 for 3 ! Same chain in Allterrain cycles is £30 for one.And these come with powerlinks for easy removal for cleaning. Also you could carry one of the links off the two spares as an emergency link should you have a chain breakage.0
