Glasgow to Balloch route.

Does anyone know what the terrain is like for this route? Going to try it on Sat but dont want to do it if theres any off road as my bike couldnt handle it....tarmac only for me :lol:

  • You can do Glasgow to Balloch on a road bike no problem. The paths beside the canal/river are the most off road it gets. Probably not the best idea if it's wet as the canal path grit doesn't do braking surfaces any favours, but it's no problem in the dry.

    Maybe a couple of gentle hills. Definitely nothing too bad. You could always take a peek at Google Maps and click the terrain button. :)

    I had a headache trying to plan this last week, for a tour in July. In the end I gave up trying to find a straightforward road out of Glasgow that didn't resemble a motorway at some point, and planned to get the train to Balloch.

    I'll plan for the canal/riverside next time.
