Re-build project - maybe?

Just been fettling and dug my old frame out of the garage.



It's an early 1990's Raleigh M-Trax with Reynolds K2 tubing. It was my first proper mountain bike after a Falcon from Halfrauds.

I'm in 2 minds what to do with it, lob it in the tip or make it into a single speed or something intersting. If I do build it back up, I think I'll do it on the cheap with ebay bargains. The only trouble is, it's got no disc mounts. What do you reckon, am I wasting my time?

I nicked the wheels of the wifes bike, just so I could get a feel for the geometry of the bike. It's so much different to my 5.

Oh, that is begging for a bright paintjob and a good old rigid singlespeed conversion. Perhaps even spice it up with HS33 hydro brakes!

I was thinking of keeping it scruffy. I remember it has 15 layers of paint and when I took it to plod to get it postcoded it was a big job needing 3 coppers to do it. Serves em right, I only took it in cos they'd accused me of nicking it when I had it in the back of my Mini!

Never thought of hydro rim brakes..........goes off to search ebay!

I got mine for my rigid HT commuter on Ebay for £60, an absolute bargain

SS, rigid and slicks.

Good set of V brakes will be fine unless you plan on really riding it through the gloop. Keep it simple, SS, rigid, Vs.

Looks good. Definitely needs to kept clean and simple. And, where possible, old skool. But as has already been said, single speed, slicks, flat bar - cut down and V's.

i'd go for the HS11, far simpler than the 33's and about £80 a pair new.
