Lugged mountain bike frames

Lots of hand and factory built road bikes use a lugged construction, why don’t at least some mountain bikes use the same method.

    I was thinking of something along the lines of a Pipedream Brewmaster. Carbon fibre top, down and seat tubes connected by luggs and cromo or Ti seat and chain stays. You'd have a great riding lightweight hardtail.

    was done by a few companies before they understood carbon fiber techniques.

    but yes there are a few out there with carbon seat stays. and 'dale use carbon chainstays but that was for the suspension.
