I bought some Kool Stop Eagle pads thanks to approvals on this forum but they are solid post as opposed to threaded with nuts. Problem is my brakes have the mounting part parallel with the rim, and these are presumably for brakes that are perpendicular (like my old mtb). They say they are suitable for "all cantilever systems" so am I missing something? Is there a widget I can buy that will allow me to use these pads?

It's a listing thing you need the |V brake ones which are threaded. Any reasonable retailer should exchange them when you explain your mistake.
