I'm looking at panniers available for commuting, and found a site for MIchaud panniers.

http://www.michaudapparel.com/

They seem expensive, but I like things that look good if they're also practical. Could anyone please tell me whether they're good panniers to buy?

Thanks to anyone who takes the trouble to respond.

I would suggest taking a look at Ortleib or Carradice - no experience of the Michaud - seem to be expensive bearing in mind that they will have to take the knocks of commuting

Michaud = form over function (i.e. they look rubbish), if you want good value, long lasting, durable, reliable panniers, go Ortlieb!

    Thumbs down here.

My Ortliebs are waterproof all of the time without the need for a "storm cover"
The Michaud look like they'd leak like a sieve without the cover on, thus soaking all of your kit the minute you get caught by the rain mid ride.

Also the styling is far too "laptop bag" for my taste.

Oh and welcome to the forum Billy

Any website with a flash intro, probably means the product is naff.

  • I saw them at the cycle show in Earls Court last year. Didn't think they were that practical to be honest.

Go for Ortlieb or, if you like pockets, Altura Orkney 34.
