heya,
How difficult is it to replace the steerer tube on fox 32 rl's? i want to cut my steerer tube to use on a smaller headtube frame for 6 months while im in whistler, then put a longer one back in when i put the fork back in my stumpjumper. has anyone tried this?
it looks like a case of the right sized hammer and a block of wood.
cheers

They cannot be fitted like that - you need a whole new upper leg and crown assembly.0

You could just leave it as it is and put spacers on top of the stem. Not ideal but means you can keep your options open.

yeah, the spacers were my backup plan, but i dont want a big stack to gore myself on everytime i slip my wheel on a technical climb! i guess ill set it up and see how much it looks like a spear awaiting my ribcage! as a wild guess, how much would i be looking at for steerer crown and stanchions? like sub £50? sub £100? i could probably do the job myself if i can find a walkthrough.Stumpjumper Comp: was marketed as a "cross country" bike, but with a bit of effort and 4 months in the saddle, i can safely call it a "cross continent" bike!
