Cycling shorts with real chamois

Does anyone know whether it is still possible to get lycra shorts with real chamois inserts? I have a pair but they are worn out - used with chamois cream they were the most comfortable shorts I have ever worn. I find modern nappy-type inserts uncomfortable and bulky.

Haven't seen a pair in ages. Let alone a pair for sale. I recall asking this question some time back and being told I was NUTS for even considering them. I've no doubt that they are illegal these days(no carbon fiber in them).

Pretty tough to find nowadays. The goats hired some heavy-hitter lawyers.

Wouldn't know where to look for them. Maybe some vintage stuff on E-bay? But will the elastic fabric still be elastic?

Modern nappy type bibshorts fall into two categories:

The chaep ones, which are, as you say, worse than the real chamois. I once bought a cheap pair of Castelli and they were awful, same for a cheap pair of Endura.

The expensive ones, which are normally good, often very good.

Beside the obvious expensive Assos, I can recommend the Pearl Izumi Elite with bibs: good fit, comfortable pad and durable fabric.
