I know a lot of people ask for a review of either a Surosa or a Ribble and quite a few ask for a Ribble VS Surosa review, so I decided as I now own both to review both and see what they are like VS each other, you can read the review here:

I do hope it helps some people who are unsure, decide

Please note I am NOT affiliated with either Ribble or Surosa in ANY way.

  • From the looks of it that's a 2006/2007 Surosa Audax rather than a Toledo. I actually have one just like it, though mine is set up with Veloce.

A friend bought a Ribble at around the same time and from what we can tell the frames are identical but with different paint and decals. The basic alloy frames the likes of Ribble and Surosa use are mass produced (nothing wrong with that at all) and great value but probably from the same factory.

I've done well over 10k miles on my Surosa Audax, though to be honest i've upgraded it a lot now over the factory spec. new wheels, hub dynamo, saddle, bars, etc. it's the way of things once you start fiddling.

The bike has done well through several winters of club riding and year round commuting, many chains, a few cassettes and a chain ring have been worn through. My only gripe here is with the durability of 10spd kit not the bike. the Veloce chainring didn't last well and i replaced it with a TA 50T as yet another upgrade, much nicer. Not trouble with Ultra Torque BB as some have reported though and it's had a lot of bad weather and salty road water flung at it.

As for RIbble. My experience is not first hand but the customer service was terrible when things went wrong.

No, It is deff a Toledo, the Toledo is still an Audax dont forget, just with a very slightly sloping top tube.

There in in truth very little between them, as im sure a 2009 Ribble would feel the same, but the Surosa just feels much more relaxed yet faster, strange really.

  • My Surosa Audax has a very slightly sloping top tube, they have changed from year to year between horazontal and slightly sloping as have Ribble. i though the Toledo had a more relaxed head and seat tube angle?
