Replacement rear mech

A couple of years back my LBS replaced a worn out RX100 rear derailleur with an Acera long cage, I think mainly because it was cheap and worked with my 7-speed drive train. Due to its cheapness, it is already looking pretty tired and I think it's a bit on the long side for my 11-28 cassette and 52/42 rings. Most rear mechs are now 8,9 or 10 speed it seems. Are there any 7 speed road mechs out there still or is it a case of ebay or upgrade?

8 and 9 speed mechs will definitely work. 10 speed will almost certainly work, but a couple might have a slightly too narrow cage.

Thanks for that. I think I need a mech with a capacity of 27T (according to Sheldon) so I think a Sora 3400 should do it. Any other I should consider (needs to be reasonably cheap, but not too cheap f you know hat I mean)?

I would just go for Sora. They work well, just not very bling.

Bling Schming. I don't want the mech looking flashier than the bike. Thanks again.
