Right,
Been into MTB for a while, and have got more into the "mechanics" of riding since i bought a Specialized Pitch.
To cut to the Chase, im upgrading the drivetrain on my Hardtail from X-4 and X-5 (begineer stuff) to X-7 (i dont have a botomless money pit) because i prefer the multi shift in the shifters.
so i have the X-7 shifters and the rear mech on the way... can people suggest me a rear cassette that would match well, and a suitable chain?
im new to buying chain and cassettes, so have no idea what all the numbers and letters mean.
It will be running with a triple rings up front.
Will i need tochange the front deraileur?
Cheers
Ps... any links to good chain deals will be appreciated.

any as long as the speed matches the shifters/cassette/chain.
and you can keep the front mech."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

As far as I know any of the mainstream 9 speed cassettes and chains (shimano and sram) are interchainable and will work fine with the new rear mech you have brought. I'd personally recommend a sram chain, just because they come with a powerlink which is one of my favourite inventions in mountain biking.
this seams like a good deal for cassette:

the main difference between the Sram chains (as far as I can tell) is how much of the chain has the anti-rust nickel plating (951 has none, 971 has outer plates and 991 is fully coated). I run a 971:

I've upped to PG990 and PC991 chain and it stays (mostly) nice and shiney!0
