Tyres and tubes question

Hello,

I have this bike
http://www.bhbikes.com/en/catalogo/2010 ... g/K25K.htm
with Rodi VR19 rims
http://www.rodi.pt/cyclinguk/main.htm
and I was thinking as I got back from my ride today that it would be nice to get some thinner tyres for my rides which are around 20 miles and mainly on road or cycle path. So I called into my local bike shop and they flogged me some Michelin Dynamic tyres 700x25C but unfortunately the reviews of these are far from stunning.

Also, they sold me some inner tubes, which say 19/23 on them, so I'm guessing they're not really suitable for 25mm tyres. So the first question is, should I risk using the tubes, or take them back to the shop? And if I take the tubes back, should I change the tyres for something better too?

And another thing.... should I risk going down to 23mm tyres on these rims? Here is the selection of tyres that the shop has

if anyone can help me out choosing some, i'd be very grateful. I usually do about 50 miles per week.

Cheers,

Tom

It sounds like your tubes are the wrong size, but 19-23 mm is an extremely narrow range. Most tubes are 18-25 mm, or ranges of around 7 or 8mm anyway. Are you sure that's the size? I'm not convinced.

As for the tyres, I'd just try them. If they work for you, then cool. If they puncture too easily, then go for something a little stronger.
Continental Four Seasons, Schwalbe Duranos/Marathons, Specialized Armadillos, and Vittoria Rubinos seem to do ok, but tyres are one area where opinions are really polarized.

Start cheap, find some which work for you.
Sometimes parts break. Sometimes you crash. Sometimes it’s your fault.
