    Ikea.

It defines me as a person (fight club style).

Than never to have loved at all."

  • Ikea made me angry. I only wanted a chest of drawers but had to walk round the entire shop to get to them!

Ikea's worse, but only because a lot of the stuff costs more. They are both more soul-crushing than any hill.

  • Toys r Us is like the Halfords of toy shops.

Overpriced and only some staff know their subject.

Much better off at a LTS, local toy shop :D

Wont vote as havent been to a toys r us. Ikea seem to have taken the no clocks, no windows or exit signs from Casinos, I hate having to go there. Especially as you (she) only wants one item and when you get there they dont have it in stock.

    Only been to Ikea.

    I hate it.

It's full of orange faced chavs who get dressed up to go DIY shopping.

The car parks are too full.

    The queues are too long.

You have to snake though the entire shop to find anything.

There is always something they don't have thus screwing up the whole trip.

Ikea - one of the inner rings of Dante's Inferno!

(other candidates being Heathrow, Birmingham New Street station and my local Tesco)

Oddly, some other retail experiences should be really bad, but we have found ways to turn them into entertainment. For example, my teenage kids and I love a game of "Comet can I help you?" when we are down at the retail park. First to double figures on offers of help from carbuncular shop assistants wins, then we leave the shop. Top tip, touch the merchandise a lot and move from zone to zone frequently. :D

Try getting through the Westfield shopping centre at lunch time without, "Can I ask you a question" being droned at you from some skincare saleswhore.

I feel rude ignoring people and this makes me very resentful towards these folk.

My 4 year old daughter and I played with all the alarm clocks in John Lewis yesterday. We got some very disdainful looks from the shop assistants. Although I have to say, a better class of shop assistant than is to be found in ToysRUs :D

JL's are hopeless at patrolling the floor! Honestly, you'd be lucky to win a "can I help you?" best of three in there if you stayed all afternoon.

Last time I was in electricals (actually wanting to buy something for a change), I opened all the microwave doors, read the sales brochure for the one I wanted, stared around looking helpless and still nobody came. The trouble is, they are used to being Sumo wrestled by Edinburgh ladies in knitted hats and they assume that is what it takes to get their attention!

You lot should show some respect. It's too early to decide as I'm still in mourning over Woolies.
