Hello everyone,
I am new to mtbing and am starting to go out for small and longer rides. I am unfit and have recently given up smoking and i weigh 20 stone and am 6'1. I need some advice on what is the best food to eat before a biger ride so i have enough energy to cope with the demands of the ride, but at the same time lose weight so i can become fitter. At the moment i am having special K with banana in the morning before a ride and then having a bigger high protein meal after, am i doing the right thing can anyone please advise.
Thankyou very much look forward to hearing from anyone.

I am also far to heavy and trying to loose weight when I go out on the bike I always have porridge made wiith skimmed milk, sometimes with sultanas in usually followed by a banana. I find this keeps me full and also stops the post ride cake  Then I just go back to my normal diet (slimming world green day).
I am sure others will be able to give you better advice though. If every action has an equal and opposite reaction does that mean I will be eaten by a fly?0 -
http://www.highfive.co.uk/min_leaflets/guides.html Click on the mtb link and it will explain it all very well. Its often a case of playing around a little with it and finding what suits you but I found it a really good starting point0
