Hi guys,

I'm looking for another bike - preferably one for under £500 - that I'm going to use primarily as a turbo trainer bike.

I'd love to hear your recommendations.

At the moment, the only bike that I can find in this price bracket is a Trek 1.1.

I'd like the bike to still be fairly nice - as it would be handy to have a good spare if I have a problem with my main bike.

    Checked the Classifieds on here?

This is a nice bike. If it's the right size, looks like a bargain

Even Halfords Carrera jobbie would do for that mate.
Or for £499.99 you can buy a Specialized Allez Elite with a Carbon Bladed Fork.
    8 spd drivetrain.
Not a bad bike as standard either so perfect for winter use.

I've upgraded mine and got the weight down from 21.5lb to 18.9lb for under £220.

Or you could buy a ss/fg bike and use that, then you've got something a bit different for the winter bike, and as long as your turbo has resistance you can adjust your cadence...

    Thanks for the tips, guys.

I've just lost out on a few bikes on eBay - but I think you're right about the Allez 16. That would be perfect, and seems like a really good price for the kit. I think I'd rather get a new model, rather than risking a pre-owned jobby.

How long have you owned yours, Daimler?

I have been considering this myself - I will probably get a bike made up by Ribble - You can get a 10 speed for about £600
