Venteux & Alpe d'huez Long Weekend

I'm looking at booking a long weekend with some friends in September to tackle Mont Venteux and Alpe d'huez. Probably leaving Thu/Fri returning Mon.

Has anyone got any advice (apart from get training!! :lol: ).

Best airport to fly in to, which to do first, how long to drive between the two, cheap and cheerful accommodation etc.

    I have done the drive between Mont Ventoux & Alpe d'Huez (well Bourg d'Oisans) 3 times and it takes about 3-3.5hrs.

    Nimes is probably the closest airport to Ventoux but is to the west (altho I think Avignon does have an airport). Grenoble or Lyon would be better airports if you need to do a round trip.

    3 - 3.5 hours drive between Ventoux and Bourg.
    Avignon is closest to Mont Ventoux, then Nimes and Marseille.

    We have arranged these a few times and the train to Avignon often works out easier than flying - worth thinking about.
    Car hire can be pre-arranged at the train station too so seemless
