Are you looking at the Gore tex or the Windstopper? I bought the Windstopper one on eBay and it is small! Gore's sizing refers to the relative size of the person wearing it - a small race snake is going to be a lot smaller than a small commuter and this is cut very much for the former. Having said that I have another Gore Windstopper jacket and it's excellent, very warm. I seem to radiate more heat than most people so I only got a few weeks of use out of it this winter but the material is impressibly breathable and I went out in some heavy downpours without getting wet, even without seam-sealing. I can't wear Gore tex unless it's very cold out as I get too hot - waterproof fabrics are not particularly breathable, gore tex is the best of a bad bunch but not by much IMO.

If you do go for one try it on in the shop first, and if you're not going to be out in extended periods of rain then Windstopper will keep you dry, without sweating as much as Gore tex, so you can obviously use your £100 jacket for three seasons rather than one.
    Commuter: Taped-up black Trek 2200 (FCN 5)
Shiny bike: Pinarello FP2 (FCN 3)
  • I've got the windstopper, it came this morning and the fit is perfect, like you say oscar looks like the perfect three season jersey so its worth the £100

I have a Gore Windstopper Oxygen jacket. It's one of the best buys that I've made. It is classified as 'slim fit', but I wuld describe it as being a fairly standard European size. The Gore sizing chart suggests a medium for my size, but I could have probably got away with small, so i wouldn't describe it as being particularly snug fitting.

I actually find that Gore comes up quite large for it's size. I'm usually a Medium but go for small in the newer Gore stuff. The Xenon is very much a race fit so if you are not very thin you may struggle with it and I'd say you'd best look at something from their range which isn't as slim fitting rather than going for a size up.
