The write up just screams stolen bike, or is it me?

i'd be not touching it with some else's pole.

though to be fair with a lot of 2nd hand bikes how'd you tell? but this just doesn't look right.

What isn't right about it? Just the lack of detail about the bike / past story about it?

(so I know what to look for when looking for an MTB)

Cash only. No postage. Will meet you at a station.

    Something smells fishy!

The 'cash only', 'meet at a station' bit + the lack of back story. Also I don't think I could buy anything from someone whose spelling is that of a five-year-old.

Look at his previous feedback. >90% is for bikes. Either a very stupid bike shop or a thief.

Might put the cat amongst the pigeons and ask him a few questions about the bike?

reason for sale? how long has he had it? etc

anything specific you could ask that an owner would reasonably know?

Also. Won't use paypal for the bike but has used it to buy music equipment. GTF!

ask him what size the shoes that go with the SPDs are and would he be willing to sell those as well

How about we all start posting a few questions and report the replies back here? :)

Why not ask him for the frame serial number?

To be honest if I was regularly selling items over £100 on ebay i'd avoid using paypal due to the charges, could always be a bike shop clearing out p/x bikes although I agree the general lack of details & private feedback is a bit suspect - could always contact him & ask for the frame number, or ask why his listings for previous bikes sold are private?

Maybe say 'I see you've sold lots of bikes, does your shop have a showroom where I could come to test-ride?'

Interesting; seller ends sale early and cancels all bids!

I think thats Ebay ending the auction rather than him.
