What Bike?

Hi am planning on a 300 mile bike ride in about a years time and am having trouble finding the ideal bike, the journey will mainly be on road and the occasional light off road section. Have been struggling to make a decision regarding what bike I would need, I have seen a couple and was wondering if anyone could give any advice or feedback.

Am currently looking at Mongoose Sabrosa 3x8 2009 on eBay for £290, aswell as the Carrera Subway 8, any advice would be great Cheers Daniel!
