Shhhhh, don't tell anyone but I am actually a regular forumite hiding under an assumed identity for covert purposes. I have a few job interviews lined up, most notably for Harrods (!!!) but I don't want my current boss to know.

  • Hmm its a bit insensitive to shout about this when there are so many people losing their jobs, and you already have one. Why do you want to tell the world anyway?

He's probably excited about it and wants to share it with his friends on here I imagine.

If he gets the job at Harrods, it will leave a vacant post where he is currently. You can't expect everybody to just sit tight until there is zero unemployment.

It's not his fault people are losing jobs. Perhaps we should no longer tell people that we've just had a good meal on here next in case someone's on a diet and can't eat

    Insensitive my arse !

Good luck fella hope you get it if it's a job you really want :D
Bianchi. There are no alternatives only compromises!
I RIDE A KONA CADABRA -would you like to come and have a play with my magic link?
  • Speaking as someone who's involuntarily been sat on his %rse for 4 months, best of luck to you.
I'm not in the slightest bit jealous. Fupping bunt :)

Oh yeah, I'm assuming that since you might be going to Harrods, it's not an electronics engineer job you'll be leaving?

  • Don't see how it's insensitive. There are jobs, I've applied for some. The fact I already have one doesn't matter, I want a better paid one in which I will be happier.

The Harrods one is out the window, but I have 2 more interviews to go.

It is a strange fact that people in a job seem to have a better chance to get jobs. I have done loads of interviews as the recruitee and I try to be even handed but I can't help thinking that it might be that the confidence of having a job already that helps the interviewee to get another job. When I was out of work (and after several failed interviews) I had three interviews lined up. Got a job in the first one...then went on and was offered the other two!

Good luck secretsquirrell. Everyone has a fair crack at the whip and I have always gone with the ethos of best man (or lady) for the job. That doesn't mean that the ones not selected are losers or unemployable.

Anyone without a job, keep going. It is all about playing the odds whilst being selective/focussed. You got to be in it to win it!

OK maybe I was a bit harsh, it's difficult to appreciate this when half the department you work in has been made redundant in the last 12 months. I saw it perhaps incorrectly a bit of gloating. Apologies Fungus you are of course as ever right.
  • I've actually been jobhunting for 18 months as I am incredibly unhappy in my current job for a number of reasons. I have had around 500 rejections by e-mail and have applied for about 1500 jobs in that time so I figure it's about time my luck changed.

Hopefully I'll be able to post on here soon saying that I have a pay rise and that my future child will have a dad that loves his job
