Any thoughts?

Obviously the cobra will try and romp away. But will the Liqui-boys have legs?

TT tomorrow and I think the queen stage is on Wednesday....

Time for Liqiugas to start delivering. Who are their Giro riders this year? Pellizotti and who?

I thought he was helping at the Giro in return for support in the Tour?

Wot not a BMCer for the win, but a dodgy Eye-talian?

    4 stages and 2 MTFs!
Rai Sports highlights are on at various times, so there may be a wait for tube highlights.
I'll have to make do with the tv. :)

Niemiec has been in good form this year

Great race this - nor many flat roads to be found in Trentino. Still, 12km is enough to put a couple of seconds between the climbers

Oh I don't know as there is a long valley through Trento and around to Lake Garda that even I can ride.

The Giro door has been left slightly ajar, by Angelo Zomegnan. ISD top the reserve list for a ride. If Rujano flies during this race, who knows after Visconti's T of Turkey title.
May 3rd is the deadline. After that and no invite, Jose could be Footon bound.

These team transfers are interesting. If it's possible for the Giro, why aren't more riders trying it for the Tour? Lampre and Footon could double their media exposure in July with the Feillu brothers, for even if they don't win they'd get plenty of interviews on French TV etc.

We now have 2 threads, so I'm bumping the original.
Ivan is still awaiting a stage win.
34 seconds down in the ITT, to someone I vaguely recall.  :)

  • Interesting 2nd — I had Garzelli down for tomorrow's stage or possibly (if down on GC due to a poor TT today  ) a long-distance breakaway on stage 3.

Interesting. I have Garz at a cheeky 30-1 for the Giro.

Basso says he's pleased with his performance.

Glad to see Vino *spit* hasn't lost any of his TT form.

Hmm, I wonder why 3 of the ISD riders are DNS on the first day. Travel problems, maybe, but they all live in Italy anyway, no?

Ah, good point. I guess their squad might not be big enough to draft in late reserves.

Maybe they've been poached by BMC? :P

What a top-10! The organiser must be cringing at the number of dodgy riders. If he's not, at least I am.

It'll be even worse tomorrow when Sella (for whom no amount of dopage can produce a good TT) joins in.

The same Arco course as last year, when the Freiburg Phantom won.
    Becoming a tradition, maybe.
Never mind, at least mountain air is clean.
