Lots of advice for cyclists from ~1913 some of which still holds today.

Some highlights.

Spend as much as you can when you buy a bike.
Leave all the meat pies for other people at breakfast.
Cycle with your mouth shut in hot weather, otherwise you will get a dry mouth and injure your teeth. And don't drink to much as this will cause you to perspire more.
Get a good lamp for cycling in the dark (acetylene or oil lamps) - don't use candle lamps.
Don't try and see how far you can go in an hour. Young cyclists are described as "scorchers".
Touring -some Americans were seen without jackets.
Pedestrians + other road users must be respected at all times. Don't be a "bounder" and ring your bell just as you are about to overtake them.
Thank goodness for cars as we cyclists benefit from all the tarmaced roads.

Some of the roads are so rough around here they were probably smoother back in 1913.
