Stem advice

I am pretty certain the stem as standard on my secteur elite is just a little bit long, I have moved the seat forward a but I am still having to push myself back onto the wider part of the seat but not as much
So the question is what stem does everyone recommend, I'm not a weight weeny so ultra light weight is not needed just something that gets the job done but shortens the cockpit a bit.
Cheers.

what is your stem length ( stop sniggering at the back ) I'm led to believe less than 80mm can compromise handling.' From the sharks in the penthouse,

its not that far '0 -
Without knowing which model and size you have on their, it's hard to comment. Moving your saddle forward to compensate for reach is probably not a good idea - saddle setback is typically defined by your femur length, flexibility and riding style whereas reach and stem length is a combination of factors such as frame size, flexibility, torso and arm length.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

I moved it forward as it was the only thing I could change at short notice, from the specialized site it has a 100mm stem on it at the moment, so if I change it for an 80 that will help a bit, if not I will just have to drop a size frame wise and take a hit in value on the bike, trouble is I have long legs hence the reason I went for a 56cm frame.0

any brand is worth a try, there's always loads on offer from the usual suspects, CRC, Wiggle, Parker etc. should pick one up for about 20 quid
I tried a Deda 70mm stem and noticed absolutely no difference in handling
In fact I noticed absloutely no difference in anything, except it looked daft, so I put the 100 stem back on0 -
If you have ' normal ' handlebars you can bring the brakehoods another 20 mm ish nearer to you by fitting compact bars . I 'lost' 40mm by doing both.' From the sharks in the penthouse,

i have an oval concepts R700 120mm on a 58cm felt f55, mainly due to the SCCS tri bar clamp system which is very clever, works for me.0
