i went to cwm carn expecting to ride the twrch trail and ride the free ride at the top. Once i got to the top i noticed the drops at the top were gone. i rode down and then as i went around a corner i realised they had put down all these sh*tty stones down that provided no grip and i almost slid out on almost every corner. They have also taken out the jumps that go into the berms. What the F*ck have they done to the freeride section

DMR - you're right, the freeride area has been somewhat sanitised. The air ambulance got called out once too many times - due to people messing up on the ladder drops. I suspect someone may have tried to sue the Forestry Commission. I was up there last year and there was a very incongruous looking insurance chap in a suit inspecting the area where the drops had been.

The gravely areas I agree are little skittish - I reckon rain may have washed the 'adhesive mud' away and just left loose stones.

As for the jumps into the berms - they're still there, aren't they?

Also that monster wall ride seems to have been deemed 'too dangerous' that's gone aswell... that doesn't bother me so much, it was a right hander ride, that I just cannot do properly!

Its a tricky subject - its all very well putting up signs that say "You're doing this at your own risk" etc etc... but if you do crush a vertebrae at the top of a remote hill - you're going need some very expensive transport and attention, and of course we all simply assume that 'the system' will sort us out - which of course in most cases, it does.

With jumps and drops getting bigger everywhere - (apart from Cwm Carn's freeride area)
I suspect this will become a bit of an issue... and that MTB specific insurance will be become mandatory everywhere we ride.

    Yawn.

Alot of trail sanitisation in wales at the moment.

And few people like the fact there being made very simple. Soon enough we will have extremely smooth mud tracks and the rather good trail center riding will be over for good :(

A Seaking and a little heli were out on Sat, two riders crashed at the drop near the end of the DH (or at least that's were it looked like)...
